Thunder II SOLD

Post by HenryJ »

I know! Big shocker right? Most of you know the details on this truck as well as I. This truck is a one of a kind and ready to tackle anything from a drive across the country to the rigors of off road exploring. This is not the soccer moms truck that rolled off the assembly line. Just over 91k miles on the odometer , I am the original owner and builder.

Image

The Crew Cab has undergone quite a few changes.

I installed a roof rack donated by a 1991 Oldsmobile Bravada

This truck is equipped for light expedition travel. The family is growing and we need room to haul another motorcycle. Selling the truck to move to a larger vehicle.

Who knows, nobody may want it. I may just keep it and figure something else out :)
I will make sure that the new owner finds us :mg:

Bump for a solid, well thought out rig! I have wheeled with it, listened to it, touched it, drooled over it.......etc.

What are your plans if, you sell it?

I know that you can do a chit load better than 10K if, you part the easy stuff removed and part it.

More than likely an Avalanche

You are probably right. I really can't bring myself to gut it though. The laptop and ham radio will come out unless a licensed buyer wants them. There are plenty of extras that might be available if it sells. I really planned to keep it much longer.
Maybe I will?
I have put the ads "out there", tomorrow I will make a run to Nampa for an appraisal as a trade-in.
It won't be gone tomorrow. It will take a little time to get my "stuff" out of it.

I would really like to find a "good" home for it. This truck is set up exactly how I like it. Who would have thought I would need to haul another bike?

Maybe "Thunder II for sale-FEELER" might be more appropriate? Although, I know you have leaned towards an Avalanche for several years now.

Just another sign the breed is dying out. I'm on my way to another, just trying to limp this one along for as long as I can.

If the price comes through, it is sold. If they offer me what I need on a trade, it is gone.
I am pretty serious about selling it.

I have seen several crew cab members go the Avalanche route. I hope to quietly follow in their footsteps. I am a small truck guy at heart. That makes this VERY hard to do. I hope something does happen to change the direction that I am heading, but I test drove an Avalanche today. It is no match for Thunder II, but I think that I could get it close eventually.

I almost teared up when I opened this thread. I wanted to see the Thunder II in person in Moab. :(

OMG, I didn't ever think you would ever sell your baby, um, I mean your crew cab! The Avalanche's are nice, but I'm sure you will miss the smaller cc on those tight trails. If you didn't need an off road SUV, the Trailblazer SS with 400 hp and AWD is is blast to drive! With all the mods you have on your cc, and less than 100k miles, I dont think you will have a very hard time selling it for $10k. If is was black I would be interested :)

Thanks Steve. I'll knock off $2k for you to paint it black if you get here fast :)
I need something that can haul a dual sport motorcycle with the gate up, and as small as I can get it with enough power to pull a trailer too. The Avalanche just fits that. There are plenty to choose from. I'll wait and see if the crew cab sells. no bites so far, but the craigslist ad just went up today. The dealer missed my price by $1800, so it is still mine.

There is a redesign of the Colorado coming up estimated for 2012 model year. Rumors of a diesel but nothing solid. It is slated to be on a new platform however, GMT-700. I'm holding out to see what this brings before I go to a Silverado.

I found a rig at a good price, if I can sell the crew cab. My loss is your gain.

Rock bottom priced at $8500 for a quick sale.

I don't know your financial situation, but I'd keep it for a "weekend toy". Especially with what you have in it. 8500 isn't that big of a deal in the grand scheme and long run. Atleast that's my opinion. That's pretty much the plan I currently have for whenever in the far off future I want a newer vehicle.

I already have a garage full of toys. I really don't think that I can justify two 4x4 trucks. I'd hate for it to just sit here doing nothing. It sits enough as is.

I am not going to worry about a different rig too much. Winter is coming and motorcycle play time is coming to an end. I may have a different perspective come spring.

I do have an extra pair of rear fender flares if the truck sells. You are first in line. I also have another full spare set that will be for sale too.

I hit a bird on the Steens loop trip. It broke the grille. Good thing I had a spare grille on the shelf. I have gathered quite a few spare parts over the years. I'll have more than a few parts to sell that I have stockpiled when the time comes.

That can be some incentive for you guys to find a buyer for my truck.

Better ideas?
