Can you get the wires mixed up? I never checked the wiring harness on an s-10, but if you can, did you check that? Also, I noticed on the trail ride that your passenger side light and brake light were dimmer than the drivers side.

Mine does that randomly since I installed my keyless entry system - but only on the right side - but it might have been all of my front end auxillary lighting that I patched in to some relays too.

did you do the DRL cancel mod, or quad highbeam mod? Maybe something patched in wrong?

check the ground wire at the right rear bumper area!!! typically if a light is dimmer than the opposite side light,, it has a bad ground!!

Yep! Sounds like the ground in the back. Happened to me two different times. It was a ground wire on the driver side rear that was connected to a bolt in... I think the frame? I'll go see if I can take a pic & post ASAP!!!

Well, wouldn't ya know it! My battery died in my digital camera! :x Always right when I need it! Anyway, my ground connect to bolts on either side of the frame beside the bolts for the rear bumber mounts. Be careful tugging & pulling on them. I think my ground was pulled from from my fuel pump the first time I was under there trying to fix `em! That sucked!! Hope this helps! :)

Really sounds like a ground problem to me too. My old VW Bus is plagued with them (I really need to rewire it with a new harness) and does similar strange things.

If your low on blinker fluid, you might want to also check the muffler bearings...

Yep. fast blink when the lights are on is a ground issue..
Its normal at other times becuase its able to back-ground through the lights.. when the power is on, it looses that bath to ground and get flaky..

Also, if you are doing the blinker fluid, headlight fluid, and muffler bearings, might as well make it compelete checkup and rotate the air in the tires while you are busy with everything else..

Hey!!!

make sure that the bulbs that you bought have the 2 elements in them, one for parking lamps and one for the blinker part. My friend did that same thing and we couldn't figure it out untill we took the bulbs out and looked at them and I told him he needed the bulbs with 2 elements in them.

Try it, I almost guarantee that is what is wrong (but if I am wrong I never said anything 8) )

Sounds logical b/c when your headlights are off the parking lamps are off and they will blink normally but when they are on your parking lamps are on so when you turn on your blinker the bulb is getting twice the voltage so the blinker module blinks much faster (same as when a bulb is out, that voltage that would go to the bulb isn't being used by the burnt out one so the extra voltage makes the module blink faster)

Quickbiker what ground and where was it located that you had to move, I can only locate 1 ground at the rear on the driver side frame rail close to the shackle.

top_sgt pinched one when we reinstalled his rear bumper during BL . It was on the passenger side somewhere near the bumper bracket.

ok this is where im guessing my problems lies there is a GROUND still attached to the frame in the pic comming out of the wiring harness at the top of the pic this must have something to do with the fuel pump , unhooked the truck wont start BUT with the ground thats hanging attached back to the frame then I start to have lighting problems. Is there another ground at the rear somewhere im missing?

this pic is from the driver side I dont see any grounds on the pass. side thats the only 2 I could find in the rear

Those "green plugs" are called splice packs. They are a gathering of ground wires.
You do have another one on the right rear frame rail with one small black wire grounded to a bolt just in front of the bumper bracket bolts.

This looks the same as the one that you have pictured.
