Dome Override button

Post by Guitar831 »

What is this button labeled Dome Override on the headlight control panel? What is its function? I've pressed it in all three settings of the headlight switch (OFF/Parking Lights/Headlights) and watched the dome lights for any changes and... nothing. I have a post in the "Electrical Modification" forum where I need a dome light wire for an install project. Could I use this button to activate a hot or ground wire that is required instead of opening the driver door? How many wires are connected to this button and do any lead to the BCM?

This button over rides the dome light. Turns it off even when the door is opened. Pushed four times within six seconds you will hear a chime and the DRL / AHL will be disabled.
All this is available in your owners manual. If you do not have one an electronic version is available.

Ok cool. So I guess I'll stick with my orginal plan to connect to a dome light wire at the BCM. I bought my Crew Cab in 2006 second hand from a guy who "upgraded" to a full size Silverado. He had lost the owners manual that came with the truck. What's the web address for the electronic version?
