I'm running two Kicker CompVR 8" subs in an enclosure from Soundoffaudio.com designed specifically for the CC. It's ok. I'm not a bass head anymore, so they're more than adequate for me. :) Keep in mind that you'll be running a bit low on airspace, so don't expect spectacular bass like you'd get from two 8's in a large enclosure, but it will be tight. Soundoffaudio and Supercrewsound must get those enclosures from the same source as they're both the same price - $119. Personally, if I had to do it again, I'd design my own enclosure. Remove the jack, and extend the enclosure from wall to wall. This would give the subs more airspace inside the box, allowing them to hit a bit harder.

<--running a single compVR 10 in my Xtreme with a bit over 1.25 ft^3 and hit 125.8db with it on a 240watt amp.......

It's a bit more than I want for the crew, so maybe this is what I need? Just something to fill in the lows a bit.

That enclosure with 2 CompVR 8's will do it, but don't expect anything very deep. Most of the sound will be between 60Hz and 100Hz. I have the X-over set to 63Hz on my alpine deck w/ 24db slope. I set the amp's subsonic filter to 40Hz. anything below 50Hz isn't very usable, but I still wanted to give a little room. :) Performance and sound will of course vary with different speaker types, but this will give you a general idea of what to expect.

I have a 10" infinity sub behind my back seat right now... I made my own box, but will be making a new one soon when i get some time. I will remove the jack and extend the box from wall to wall most likely.

Thanks for the info.....I think my 10 is good down into the high 50's....I bought it over 7 years ago, so I'm a little fuzzy on the details.

With a 1.25cf enclosure, a compvr 10" should respond well down to the mid 40's as 1.25cf is the optimal size IMO. Of course you'll get more volume when going higher, but try setting your X-over to 50Hz, and see how the sub performs.

I had originally planned to cut out the back of my backseat so that I could build a bigger enclosure to house a pair of 10's or 12's, but I never got around to it. Although I did get around to cutting compartments into the foam of the bottom cushion for some wiring and extras.

Hey Jeff024

Sorry I did not see your post sooner, as well as for your not knowing about our discovery of this very same sub box in Feb 2004. I sure hope you did not search as long and hard as I did to find it :yikes: You can see our discussion here:

http://www.s-10crewcab.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=15487

I am still enjoying the same setup, and have not been disappointed.

Talk about parenthood keeping you out of the loop. Jeff traded his crew this summer and got a Nissan CC. Better a day late than a dollar short though.Image
