Loud is normal. When it quits worry.
Try to run on the top half of the tank. Fuel is the cooling for the fuel pump. If you run low frequently it will shorten the pumps life. This will also keep it quieter.

I have always put 4oz. of Marvel Mystery Oil in every 12gal. of gas at fill up. This gives a lubricant to the fuel pump, lubes the fuel gauge pickup, and a little cleaning on the fuel injectors all for the price of $3.50 per eight 12gal. fillups. Little bit of insurance never hurts ! :D 8)
