Tune Up help advise

Post by bradjh »

I have finally decided to do a tune up my self and save money I think i can handle it with eveyone's help, I am going to do distrubutor cap and rotor, new wires and plugs.

How do i get to the spark plugs i can barely even see them?

I have an 02 crew with 95,000 idle is getting a little rough

Should I do anything else beside cap, rotor, plugs, and wires??

Look through the wheel wells. Lift the flap to see them. #3 (second plug on left side) will require using a wrench on the hex portion of the sparkplug socket. A wobble extension may also work. That is what I use.

Fuel filter.

A quick search should reveal several threads on all these subjects. Remember, finesse will go a long way.

ok will do fuel filter as well

As far as spark plugs what is the preferred brand? Does any one brand offer more power and fuel effiency over another?

There is a very good thread on sparkplugs. My current favorite is the Irridium Autolite XP plugs.
For wires I like the Taylor SpiroPro. They are even less expensive than OEM with better performance.

Yes, you should also replace both pre-cat O2 sensors with some new AC Delco O2's. The throttle body, MAF sensor, and IAT sensor should all be cleaned as well.
