DTC code P0442

Post by 04crewvt »

Got this code for the 2 or 3rd time today. Took a look at the gas cap and can see the seal is showing cracks so needs to be replaced. Anyone know if the seal is available separately or should I just go for an entire cap? Seems like a waste to replace entire cap for just an o-ring.

I believe a replacement cap is the only choice. Check the tank vent valve filter too if it has been a while.

I figured the cap would be the only way to go. I have never checked the tank vent valve filter so I will take a look.

A 9V battery can be used to test the solenoid for the valve.

Yup just finished looking at that entire thread. Will work on checking/replacing the valve.

Looks like I can pick up both cap and filter from Rock Auto for $35 shipped so I will check valve and order if needed.
