Heater core

Post by PATRICKH »

Need to have heater core replaced. Do not have time, energy or desire to do it myself. Recieved several quotes ranging from $800-$900 to do it. Sound about right?

I was all set to do it myself, then posts on here and my service manual made me say f**k it. :x

Sounds fairly reasonable considering the depth of the task.

Yikes, without a heater core it is worth about the same as scrap? Maybe .10 lb? ;)

Removing the fender and digging out the heater core never did look like fun. I still remember all the pictures and a full ashtray of cigarettes on the table. Pretty stressful I suspect. Not something I ever looked forward to.
Is yours leaking?

Carpet is not wet, but smell of coolant really strong in the cab and windshield fogging up. I took the hoses loose and bypassed it for now. But thats not working real well either. No coolant smell, but no way to clear condensation from the windshield either.

I replaced the radiator last month so kinda figured ths was coming.

Its really not that bad of a job, the dash is made to come out in one unit and all of the harnesses just unplug...
