Body Lifts, Tires, and estimate at how much it cost

Post by banks88 »

I just bought an 02 zr5. I am wondering what kind of lift, tires, and maybe what it might be close to costing. I want to put a good lift and I am also hoping I might be able to fit 33's under it. Is this possible?

It is possible and what you seek is all in the "Marvelous Mystery Lift" thread.

There is also the Superlift FIT 6" suspension lift. Be prepared to sell the truck soon after though. That seems to be the norm.

Those are the two choices to fit 33" tires.

The Marvelous Mystery Lift. I will look into it. Why do you say be prepared to sell it soon after? are there problems doing the superlift fit 6"?

A few have had issues with boots , ball joints, alignment retention, but nothing really drastic. They all just seem to be rid of them within a couple years. Steve is our long term winner, well if you don't count Paul. Paul went SFA pretty early though.

The MML bunch seem to hold on to their rigs longer and it is about half the cost of a Superlift. On a budget you can do the MML a piece at a time.

Keep in mind that I am prejudiced since I run the MML on mine. I like the lower center of gravity and my terrain works well with it.

You will have a hard time getting feedback from the Superlift survivors as they are few and far. More than a few MML members here may voice their impressions though.

Thank you very much. I will look more into this. I am really excited about getting to fix this truck up. It is going to be a toy after I finish paying it off. Are there other lifts that are good that are not 3"?

Under 6" of lift for a suspension lift is not an option. The choices are not viable. The only choice less than that is a 2" bodylift.
2" suspension lifts are just over cranking the torsion bars and that has way too many down sides.
