Shackle Bolts & Bushings

Post by JORSWIFT »

Need help! Was trying to change my shackles out for 2"ers and cannot get the bolt out of the shackle. I think I am going to have to cut them. Can anyone help locate new bushings and bolts? Thanks.

I had the same problem. I used lots of PB Blaster and heat and beat method. Came out. Just be cautious not to damage the bushings too bad. Mine were in there GOOD.

An air hammer or a 5lb sledge works pretty good on those bolts!

I have beat the thing, sprayed them, turned then, wiggled them, etc. And no budging. I hate to have to cut them.

No, I have Chevy and GMC "STEALERS" . They charge an arm and leg for that kind of stuff.

Just cut 'em and take the remnants to a local Fastenal and they will hook you up.

I'm pretty sure I have a sets of shackle bolts/nuts if you want them for cheap. Just PM me if you are interested. They are left over from installing Daystar shackles on my 01 Crew Cab. Did you get the old ones out yet?

It has been raining non-stop here in IN and with my G-pa in the hospital I havent had much time to work on the truck. I went ahead and bought some bolts from Fastenal. I believe them to be right size. I hope to get under the truck in the next couple of days.

Well I finally got around to working on the shackles again. I got the shackle bolts out by cutting the heads off and using the nut as a puller by tightening it and pulling the bolt out. Worked good by using wrenchs or something as spacers.
