Air Filter Cleaning

Post by green02crew »

I know K&N has a cleaning kit out there for cleaning the filters. I haven't been to town to get one and was already taking my intake off to get at some things when I figured I'd clean the filter. Does anybody know a good process to cleaning/lubing it? Is there anything special in the K&N cleaner/oil or is there a good household substitute I could use instead of putting it back on and going to spend $10 on something that could just be alcohol and 10w30 for all I know. Just wanted to save a couple pennies if at all possible but still do a fair job at maintenance.

I would stick with the recommended K&N cleaner and oil.

You get more cleaner and oil for your $ if you buy the spray bottles vs the aerosole type.

I bought the largest size of each which should last 5-10 years for my 3 vehicles.

That's one thing I like about my AEM drop in filter...

Some simple green for a few minutes, rinse, let it dry, throw it in, and you're done...

No oiling :D
