Air box Mod

Post by Jerms »

So this weekend I tried out the airbox mod. I also changed to a K n N filter. It worked great there is a noticeable change in pickup and acceleration. And it growls now when I step on it.

I had heard somewhere that there is also some kind of silencer located further up in the stock tubing somewhere, and that it was also restrictive to the flow of air.

Anyone know about this? Is it worth removing and are there any conflicts?

I don't think that's what I read about. Here is the exact wording from sshotrods http://www.sshotrods.com/dirt-bikes-in- ... k-for.html

Unfortunately the images are not working.

Next you can remove the void box. The void box connects to the air intake behind the throttle body. The purpose of this box is to make the truck quieter but it also slows the air down and reduces HP. To remove it first remove the air intake throttle body piece that clamps onto the throttle body. loosen the hose clamp and remove the void box. I used a Crystal Light drink mix container to cap the hole off but you might find something better. Mine was a perfect fit. I cut the container down to the correct height, painted it black, and held it onto the intake with a hose clamp. Place the box back into the truck and connect everything back up. We could tell a big difference and I know you will too. this mod works best with the use of a K&N air filter.

I was also wondering how many of you went with the K n N fipk kit versus the stock airbox mod, and if there was a noticeable difference in the two.

I think if the images were working you would find it is not for our trucks and does not apply. We don't have a silencer in the intake tube.

This one is for our trucks: Factory air box and modified headlight support
