Help needed for a GMC 1946 on S10 base in France!

Post by Serge PETIT »

One of my friend owned a 1946 GMC pick-up équiped with a TBI V6 4,3l W code of year 1994 and manual gears.
Because of a failure of the engine and due to the fact that's easier to find in France a 4,3 CPI of years 1995 to 1997 ,
Is it possible to install the TBI system and it upper exhaust manifold on a CPI ?
If possible would it be difficult ? Adaptations to do ?
Would it be easier to replace all with a CPI ? What will be necessary ? (engine, PCM , wiring ? ).
Thanks for you replies and recommandations .

Some of the S-series forums get into this conversion IIRC. I am not sure if there is a difference in the cylinder heads. They may be needed to make the manifold swap work. I can not remember if it was a steam port, or water port issue? I would check s-seriesforum.com and Planets-10.com if they still exist. Others may have good ideas too?
