Honda Civic Transmission Question

Post by green02crew »

Replaced 5 speed in '01 Civic after it failed with 5 speed out of '04. Now it's getting about 50 extra miles a tank at least. Different gearing or what?

Is the speedometer correct?

I thing he meant that if the gear ratio changed there would be a good chance the speedo would also be out.

If the speedometer was calibrated for a different tire size it could be off too. Take your stopwatch out and do the measured miles test.

Or get on the Interstate where the miles are marked and see if your odometer matches the mile markers. 8)

Did you two go to different high schools together? :roflmao:

I'm surprised it works at all. Has to be a lot of differences in speed sensors and pcms or ecms. Not all manufacturers are like GM and go several yrs without changes.
