3rd Door Body Work

Post by 2002-S10-Tom »

I recently bought a 2002 extended cab with a 3rd door.
The bottom 8-10 inches of the 3rd door shows a lot of rust/bubbling.
Is it best to try to find a replacement door at a scrap yard ?...does anyone make an aftermarket door ? What is a reasonable price a body shop might charge for this kind of repair ?

I am fairly sure an auto recycler will be your best bet. You can check car-part.com to see who has one close to you.

Whenever I travel to Michigan I always see the 3rd doors rotted on the S10s. I would try to pick one up from out of state that is clean. I would also have the body shop when they paint it for you add rock chip guard to the lower portion of the door. This prevents rocks and things that get kicked up by the wheels and the salt from pitting the paint and causing moisture to leak in and rot the door out. It worked on my dads F150!
